Notes

For a complete study of Niguma, see the book Niguma, Lady of illusion by Sarah Harding.

Niguma is the second Jewel among the Seven Shangpa Jewels. Established in a realization which goes beyond the usual temporal benchmarks, it remains accessible to those endowed with a pure spirit and it appeared to masters who lived in the 11th and 12th centuries and then to others, throughout history (Bodong Cholé Namgyel, Thangtong Gyelpo, Künga Drölchok). She is also named Drupé Gyelmo, the queen of the accomplished (chos 'byung bstan pa'i pad+ma rgyas pa'i nyin byed p.207).
